Bad Breath (Halitosis)
There is a solution. You do not have to live with it.

Who has it?

It is estimated that as many as 20-90 million people suffer from chronic halitosis (long term bad breath). It is also estimated that 90% of the population has periodic bad breath or morning breath. This problem can have a significant social impact, affecting your success or failure in business, relationships and other endeavors. In many cases, persons who have bad breath are either not aware of their problem or do not know where to seek treatment.

What causes bad breath

It is known that about 80% of bad breath originates from the mouth and the culprit responsible in most cases are the volatile sulphur compounds (VSCs). VSCs form as a result of the degradation or decomposition of dead human (gum) and bacterial cells that remain under your gumline. It is the presence of VSCs on your breath that results in halitosis. This problem is magnified in the presence of undiagnosed and untreated gum disease.  It is also important to realize that in 20% of halitosis cases, the cause is  non-oral and may be due to a sinus, respiratory or gastro-intestinal problem.

I know I have bad breath, how do I correct it?
I suspect I may have bad breath, what do I need to do?

In our practice, we provide anti-halitosis consulations, diagnosis and treatment but encourage you to continue regular treatment at your own dentist. However, if you have no current dentist, or upon your request, we will provide all comprehensive treatment. As a rule, our office recommends that you always seek treatment for chronic halitosis because it is, frequently, a symptom of an undiagnosed underlying problem.
